All Strings Attached recognizes that the violin, viola and cello have a rich history with some of the finest music and instruments ever created. We also recognize that many instruments outside the violin family have undergone major transformations in the last century, and the advent of electricity offered some new areas to explore for musicians.
Enter the solid body electric violin. What happens when you have a mike or pickup on an acoustic violin? Feedback in the sound system, especially at higher volumes. A solid body allows the pickup to be very sensitive without any feedback. By controlling the output signal, electronic effects and volume can be added easily, opening up unique and even radical new sounds to the innovative musician. Starting with Zeta violins in the 1970s, solid body electric violins began to gain respect among musicians around the world.
Wood Violins, founded by Mark Wood of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, may be the most innovative change to violin design yet. We carry Wood Violin instruments and can custom order any of their unique products.

Wood Electric Violins are not the first electric violins and cellos, but are unique for several reasons. First, Mark Wood is a world class musician building instruments for other musicians. Wood Violins is the only electric violin manufacturer we are aware of that has that distinction. Secondly, the patented designs include 2 instruments that have fundamentally changed the way we think about playing the violin, viola and cello. Specifically the Viper Violin and the Cobra Cello introduce a change in how we hold the instrument, creating the first significant changes to violin family instrument pedagogy (playing methods) in possibly the last 100 years. And the changes are for the better, allowing more freedom of movement and expressiveness as you play. See the videos in the Viper and Cobra sections for more on this.
The Viper, Cobra, Sabre and Custom Stingray are hand made in New York and are high quality instruments, lightweight, easy to play and very powerful amplified. The 6 and 7 string versions are unlike any bowed string instrument available today. Customize your own dream Wood Violins Instrument for no additional charge! Contact Us for more Information.

"This book, geared toward both string educators and students alike, provides a fresh approach to the violin, an instrument that has been around for hundreds of years, and offers some insight into what I feel is the next step in its evolution." - Mark Wood. This book will introduce both educators and students to a new violin pedagogy that can help us to develop a certain kind of musicianship...
The Electrify Your Strings book has been thoroughly reviewed by the All Strings Attached staff. We have concluded that this is a fundamentally important book for anyone exploring rock and blues styles on a violin, whether a SV-4 Stingray violin, Viper violin or your personal acoustic violin. If you've seen Mark Wood play and are inspired to try it, this is a great follow up to attending his concerts or workshops, providing the background in technique that you need to really dig deep in these styles. Arpeggios and scales, explanations, biographical material and improvisation studies, this is basically Mark's life as a performer and educator in written form. The studies are progressive, beginning with the basics and moving through to pretty complex, professional player stuff. As with everything Mark Wood does, this book inspires you stay dedicated to making fantastic music every time you play, in whatever style you love.

“The Viper Violins is the most revolutionary and innovative electric violin ever offered to the modern violinist. With the breakthrough design of our patented Chest Support System™, the Viper Violin is a completely self-supporting instrument.
The shoulder pad and chin rest are no longer needed, allowing the player to perform for longer periods of time without experiencing the neck and back fatigue that a traditional violin can create.
Now violin players can experience the physical and musical freedom that up until now has only been available to guitarists.” -Wood Violin web page
All Strings Attached maintains an ongoing relationship with Wood Violins and respects the substantial innovation and commitment to education that Mark and his crew have embarked on.
Wood Viper Violins is particularly innovative because of two key things. To begin with he has introduced both fretted and non-fretted versions of the Viper Violin. This allows intonation accuracy that has never been available before to string players. And because the frets on the high string side are flat, the nuance and expressiveness of a traditional violin is still available.
His second astonishing innovation is offering not only 5-string versions, but also 6 and 7. Now, with a good bow and amplification, a violinist or violist can play pitches as low as the cello and bass. The compositional and musical options open up and the player can create like never before. Recommended for advanced players. Please call for price and availability.
The Stingray Violin offers the best value for today’s modern violinist. Whether you are a beginning string student or a professional musician, these violins make the transition to an electric solid body seamless. These sleek and beautiful instruments deliver outstanding tone and the necessary "punch" for live performances.
The Stingray Violin is held similar to a traditional violin. It has a chinrest and is designed to accommodate a shoulder rest. You may need one since the instruments is fairly thin, which allows for its remarkable light weight . We've tried many electric violins, especially low priced ones, and most of them are very heavy and tiring to play for any length of time. In contrast the Stingray Violin is very light and enjoyable to play. The instrument almost floats in your hand, and it can be played for hours without fatigue. Shifting is obstruction free all the way up the fingerboard. You'll be more adventurous with high notes on the Stingray Violin.
